Senator Chris Murphy spoke about legislative efforts to improve behavioral health for children and families.
Jay Williams from the Hartford Foundation spoke about unacceptable levels of inequity in access to treatment.
Ross Tine, a Connecticut Children’s patient spoke movingly about the services that saved his life when he was in crisis.
Major themes that emerged from the discussion included:
The need for a public health approach focused on prevention
A consensus that we cannot treat our way out of the current crisis
The need to disrupt silos and fragmented payment systems to create change
An increased focus on early childhood and support for families
